A quick guide to essential oils

Do you use essential oils? I love them! The aromas are beautiful, and as I studied them more I learned that they don’t just smell good! They also have health and beauty benefits and have been used by traditional cultures for centuries. Lots of studies have been done recently and now they are becoming more popular as we learn more about them.

You can access the benefits of essential oils many ways, but the most common practices include aromatic diffusion and topical application.

Essential oils don’t just smell nice!

Added to an oil burner or diffuser, essential oils have aromatherapeutic benefits that can boost your mood and change your mindset. Single oils and blends can be used to reduce stress, and promote sleep, and studies have shown that essential oils can also relieve depression.

Minor headaches can be relieved by massaging lavender, peppermint or ginger essential oils (diluted with a carrier oil) to your forehead, temples and the back of your neck using gentle circular motions. Inhale the aroma by taking long, slow breaths in and out.

Essential oils are also an ancient beauty secret, helping to clear your complexion and soften the signs of ageing.

They penetrate the skin quickly, promoting cell renewal, and have an antibacterial effect, helping to heal blemishes and reduce scarring.

One of my favourites for the skin is jasmine essential oil.

Known as the “King of Oils,” jasmine essential oil is traditionally used to restore skin. Relaxing and uplifting, it increases skin’s elasticity, helping to balance moisture to naturally reduce dryness. Its antibacterial properties protect and aid skin’s immunity while healing blemishes and scars, and it’s fantastic for all skin types. This is why I have chosen it for Nourish Jasmine and Tamanu moisturiser, which is high in antioxidants to reverse the effects of ageing by rejuvenating the skin’s appearance, firming skin tone, smoothing wrinkles and reducing the appearance of scars.

Essential oil blends can be created for their aroma and for therapeutic purposes.

My signature oil blend for therapies is Restore, a relaxing blend formulated to encourage inner peace and stillness and to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. A fresh unique blend of sweet orange, patchouli, clary sage and ylang ylang is tied together with frankincense for a clean crisp blend.

Restore Signature Blend will help you create a space of peace and tranquility, no matter where you are or what you’re doing.
